These qualifications are aimed at learners who wish to widen their career pathway and skill set within their chosen sector through assessing. They are open to all (learners must be 19 years old or over) who have occupational and technical competence in the areas that they wish to assess.
The objective of these qualifications is to assess the candidate assessor’s knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices that underpin assessment.
We offer a number of Assessor’s award courses. All courses start with the Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment 501/0167/5.
You would then choose the award which is most appropriate to your work from those listed below. Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Active IQ level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
What will the course cover?
All Assessor Courses will cover Unit 1 which is Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment, which include understanding the types and methods of assessment, how to involve learners and others in the assessment process, how to plan assessment and to make assessment decisions amongst other topics. This usually takes 2 days.
You can then choose which additional unit(s) you wish to undertake where you will be assessed at your workplace by a member of our staff:
Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is Unit 2, and this qualification is intended for those who assess skills, knowledge and occupational competence in the work environment.
Active IQ level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is Unit 3, and this qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment.
Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is Units 2 and 3.
This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace.
